A condition of the blood that has a deficiency in red blood or hemoglobin. Many people are anemic and they may not even know it. Symptoms commonly include feelings of fatigue, weakness and shortness of breath. The hemoglobin in our blood transports oxygen, without it the cells don’t get enough oxygen and neither does the brain, muscles and tissues. In order to produce hemoglobin, the body needs iron. Often anemia is caused by an iron or B12 deficiency.
The fix to anemia is to focus on supplement intake and changes in the diet.
You want to focus on iron rich foods as well as foods rich in Vitamin C because it helps the body retain iron. Foods include:
- Leafy greens
- Dried fruits
There are some foods that prevent or block iron absorption which you will want to stay away from and they include foods like: chocolate, tomatoes, spinach (contains oxalic acid), soda, dairy, coffee and black tea.
Add to your diet:
- Citrus Fruits (for the vitamin C)
- Ashwaganda supplements
- Nettle Leaf
- Dandelion Root – high in iron
