Pineapple Juice as Cough Syrup

Pineapples (Ananas comosus) are one of the most popular tropical fruits in the world.
They are a good source of many nutrients, such as vitamin C, manganese, copper and folate. Pineapples are also the only source of the plant compound bromelain.

Health benefits you can gain are: enhanced immune system function, cancer prevention, improved wound healing, reduce inflammation and better gut health.

Pineapples provide a number of great health benefits but in addition to the ones I have mentioned they also work as a great alternative to toxins in cough syrup. Pineapples contain bromelain; a specific type of enzyme that has anti-inflammatory characteristics which can combat infections and eradicate bacteria. Pineapples also contain half of your daily dose of vitamin C which is essential for balancing energy. The next time you have a pesky cough as a result of a cold or irritation… reach for all natural pineapple juice rather than over the counter cough medication. If that wasn’t good enough, pineapples also help loosen up any annoying mucus. In 2010 there was a report done by Der Pharma Chemica which concluded that pineapple together with honey, salt and pepper when taken daily helps to dissolve mucus that gather in the lungs, causing illnesses such as Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.

Try creating your own:
-1 cup of fresh pineapple juice – preferably home juiced
-Some fresh lemon juice – approximately a quarter of a cup
-A small piece of ginger – about 3 inches long
-1 tablespoon of unprocessed honey
-Half a teaspoon of hot cayenne pepper

Add all the ingredients to your juicer, and blitz! Your mucus and your cough will be gone in no time.
Yay for Pineapples!!
